Back pain, especially chronic or long lasting back pain can be debilitating and disabling for many Americans. Pain without a known cause or treatment can be frightening and of large inconvenience.
If your back pain lasts longer than six weeks, you should schedule an appointment to see your doctor for a full physical examination. Don't assume this pain is soreness. Many of the causes of back pain are impossible to detect or diagnosis alone and you will need a medical diagnosis in order to receive proper treatment. If you have been injured or experienced an accident which resulted in back pain, you shouldn't hesitate to visit your doctor.
Remember that with acute or temporary back pain, you are able to go about your daily activities knowing the pain will cease and eventually go away. Ask your doctor about returning to your exercise regimen and consult him on ways to speed your recovery. He or she may suggest strengthening exercises like stretching or bending forwards and backwards.
