Top 10 Tips to Outsmart IBS
Cramping and bowel changes have you running too frequently to the toilet? Here are ten tips that can help ease IBS.
Understanding IBS
Individuals who have inflammatory bowel syndrome may experience abdominal pain, constipation, cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea and painful bowel movements. Clearly, IBS can be an upsetting intestinal disorder!
Diagnosing IBS
In order to diagnose the digestive disorder inflammatory bowel syndrome, a doctor will examine the symptoms, like diarrhea, abdominal pain and constipation. He may also order tests, like a colonoscopy or endoscopy, to screen for other disorders.
Managing IBS with Behavioral Modifications
Irritable bowel syndrome has no cure, but relief is still possible. People with IBS-induced constipation may benefit from increasing their fiber intake, while those with abdominal pain may benefit from behavioral therapy.
Treating IBS with Medication
Inflammatory bowel syndrome can't be cured, so IBS treatment is aimed at symptoms. Abdominal pain can be eased with anticholinergics like Bentyl, and constipation responds to stool softeners. Diarrhea, meanwhile, responds to medication like Imodium.
