Amturnide
Amturnide Overview
Amturnide (generic: aliskiren/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. This medication is a single tablet containing three different drugs.
- Aliskiren belongs to a group of drugs called direct renin inhibitors, which prevent blood vessels from tightening (narrowing).
- Amlodipine belongs to a class of medications called calcium channel blockers, which help relax blood vessels.
- Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) belongs to a group of drugs called diuretics (water pills), which help the body get rid of excess fluid.
This medication comes in tablet form and is taken once a day, with or without food.
Common side effects of Amturnide include swelling of ankles, feet, and hands, dizziness, and headaches.
