Azopt Overview
Azopt (generic: brinzolamide) is a prescription medication used to treat an eye condition called glaucoma. It is also used to treat a condition called ocular hypertension (higher than normal pressure inside the eye), which can lead to glaucoma if not treated.
Azopt belongs to a group of drugs called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of fluid produced in the eye, resulting in reduced pressure in the eye.
This medication comes it the form of an eye drop. The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) 3 times daily.
Common side effects include itching or dry eyes, blurred vision, and unusual taste.
