Binosto (generic: alendronate) is a prescription medication used to treat the thinning of bones, medically known as osteoporosis, in women after menopause. It is also used to increase bone mass in men who have osteoporosis.  Binosto belongs to a group of drugs called biphosphonates, which slow the breakdown of bone.

This medication comes in effervescent tablet form and is taken once a week dissolved in a half glass of water, on an empty stomach.

Common side effects of Binosto include abdominal (stomach area) pain, heartburn, and diarrhea.
