Bumex (generic: bumetanide) is a prescription medication used to treat fluid retention caused by several medical conditions including congestive heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. Bumex belongs to a group of drugs called diuretics ("water pills") which help the body get rid of excess fluid by increasing the amount of salt and water the kidneys remove from the blood.

This medication comes in tablet form and is usually taken once daily, with or without food.

Common side effects of Bumex include headache, nausea, and low blood pressure. Bumex can cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
