Carbatrol
Carbatrol Overview

Carbatrol (generic: carbamazepine extended-release) is a prescription medicine used to treat certain types of seizures (epilepsy) and certain types of nerve pain (neuralgia).  Carbatrol is in a class of drugs called anticonvulsants.  It works by reducing abnormal nerve signals in the brain that cause seizures and pain.

Carbatrol comes in capsule form and is usually taken twice daily, with or without food. 
 
Common side effects of Carbatrol include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, and vomiting. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
