Ceftin
Ceftin Overview
Ceftin (generic: cefuroxime) is a prescription medication used to treat certain bacterial infections including strep throat, ear infections, urinary tract infections, sinus infections, lyme disease and gonorrhea. This medication belongs to a group of drugs called cephalosporin antibiotics, which work to stop the growth of bacteria in the body.
Ceftin comes in tablet and oral suspension (liquid) forms. It is usually taken twice daily for 7 to 10 days. However, Ceftin is sometimes taken as a single dose or for as long as 20 days.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
