Celebrex Overview

Celebrex (generic: celecoxib) is a prescription medicine used to treat pain, arthritis, and painful menstrual periods. Celebrex belongs to a group of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking a substance called COX-2 that causes pain and inflammation. 

Celebrex comes in capsule form and is taken by mouth, twice a day with food.  
 
Common side effects are stomach pain or upset, and diarrhea.
