Ciprodex
Ciprodex Overview

Ciprodex (generic: ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone) is a prescription medicine used to treat outer ear infections in children and adults and acute (suddenly occuring) middle ear infections in children with ear tubes.

Ciprodex is made up of two drugs. Ciprofloxacin is in a class of medications called quinolone antibiotics. Dexamethasone is in a class of medications called corticosteroids. Together, they work by killing the bacteria that cause infection and reducing swelling in the ear.

Ciprodex comes as drops for the ears. The typical dose is 4 drops twice a day for seven days.

Common side effects include ear discomfort and itchiness.
