Clorpres (generic: clonidine/chlorthalidone) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention caused by congestive heart disease or other conditions. It is a single tablet containing 2 medications, clonidine and chlorthalidone. Clonidine belongs to a group of drugs called centrally acting alpha-agonists. These medications block chemicals in the blood to allow blood vessels to relax and heart rate to slow. Chlorthalidone belongs to a group of drugs called diuretics ("water pills"), which cause the kidneys to get rid of extra water and salt in the urine.

Clorpres comes in tablet form. It is usually taken once or twice daily, with or without food.

Common side effects include nausea, loss of appetite, headache, and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
