Cosopt Overview

Cosopt (generic: dorzolamide/timolol) is a prescription medication used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension.  Cosopt contains two active ingredients, dorzolamide (Trusopt) and timolol (Betimol). Dorzolamide belongs to a group of drugs called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Timolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers. Both drugs work to lower pressure in the eye by lowering the amount of fluid in the eye.

This medication comes in the form of an eyedrop. It is usually applied to the affected eye(s) twice daily.

Common side effects of Cosopt include burning, stinging, and redness of the eye(s).
