Estring
Estring Overview
Estring (generic: estradiol) is a prescription medicine used to treat itching, burning, and dryness in or around the vagina, and to reduce urgent urination, caused by menopause. Estring contains estradiol, a form of the hormone estrogen. It works to reduce symptoms of menopause by replacing estrogen that the ovaries no longer produce.
This medication comes in the form of a small, soft, flexible ring with a center that contains estradiol. It is inserted into the vagina once every 90 days.
The most common side effects include increased vaginal secretions, headache, breast pain, and bloating.
