Focalin Overview

Focalin (generic: dexmethylphenidate) is a prescription medication used to treat attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Focalin belongs to a group of drugs called stimulants.  It is believed to work by balancing certain chemicals in the brain.

This medication comes in tablet form. It is taken twice daily, at least 4 hours between doses. Focalin can be taken with or without food.

Common side effects include stomach ache, nausea, and fever.
