Glucovance (generic: glyburide/metformin) is a prescription medication used to treat type 2 diabetes in adults.  This medication is a single tablet containing two prescription drugs.  Glyburide belongs to a group of drugs called sulfonylureas, which help lower blood sugar levels by causing the pancreas to make insulin.  Metformin belongs to a group of drugs called biguanides, which lowers blood sugar, in part, by helping your body use your own insulin more effectively.

This medication comes in tablet form and is taken once or twice a day, with food.

Some of the common side effects of Glucovance include diarrhea, nausea, and upset stomach.
