Isentress Overview
Isentress (generic: raltegravir) is a prescription medication used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in combination with other anti-HIV medicines. Isentress belongs to a group of drugs called integrase inhibitors. This medication works by blocking the activity of a substance in the virus (HIV) called HIV integrase which is required to make more viruses.
This medication comes in tablet form and is taken twice a day, with or without food.
Common side effects of Isentress include nausea, headache, tiredness, weakness, and trouble sleeping.
