Krystexxa (generic: pegloticase) is a prescription medication used to prevent gout attacks in people who have not responded to other gout treatments or cannot tolerate them.  Krystexxa belongs to a group of drugs called PEGylated uric acid specific enzymes. It works by decreasing the amount of uric acid in the body. 

This medication comes in a solution (liquid) to be given directly into a vein (IV) by a healthcare provider in a medical setting. Krystexxa is usually given once every 2 weeks.

Common side effects of Krystexxa include gout attacks, infusion reaction (hives, shortness of breath, and itching), and nausea.
