Librium Overview

Librium (generic: chlordiazepoxide) is a prescription medication used to treat anxiety disorders, symptoms of anxiety, and withdrawal symptoms of acute alcoholism. Librium belongs to a group of drugs called benzodiazepines, which work by slowing activity in the brain to allow for relaxation.

This medication comes in capsule form and is taken up to 4 times a day, with or without food.

Common side effects of Librium include loss of coordination, confusion, and drowsiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Librium affects you.
