Lysteda (generic: tranexamic acid) is a prescription medicine used to treat women with heavy monthly periods (menstruation) that get in the way of social, leisure, and physical activities.  Lysteda belongs to a group of drugs called antifibrinolytics which work by preventing the breakdown of blood clots.
