Miacalcin
Miacalcin Overview
Miacalcin Nasal Spray (generic: calcitonin) is a prescription medication used for the treatment of osteoporosis in women more than 5 years after menopause (end of monthly menstrual periods) who cannot or do not want to take estrogen products. Miacalcin is a man-made version of calcitonin, a hormone that regulates bone formation and breakdown.
Miacalcin comes in two forms, a nasal spray and an injectable form. This medication guide focuses on the nasal spray. It is usually sprayed once in alternating nostrils each day.
Common side effects of Miacalcin Nasal Spray include runny nose, back or joint pain, and headaches.
