MoviPrep (generic: polyethylene glycol) is a prescription medication used to clean the colon before a colonoscopy.  MoviPrep belongs to a group of drugs called osmotic laxatives, which cause bowel movements by drawing water into the colon.

This medication comes in powder form to be mixed with water. The usual dose is 8 ounces of MoviPrep every 10 minutes.

Common side effects of MoviPrep include stomach swelling, nausea, and thirst.
