Osphena (generic: ospemifene) is a prescription medication used to treat painful intercourse in women caused by vaginal changes after menopause. During menopause the body produces less estrogen which can make vaginal tissues thinner and drier, making intercourse painful. Osphena belongs to a group of drugs called selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) which work by acting like estrogen in vaginal tissues making them thicker and less fragile.

This medication comes in tablet form and is taken once daily, with food.

Common side effects of Osphena include hot flashes, vaginal disharge, and increased sweating.
