Picato
Picato Overview
Picato (generic: ingenol) is a prescription medication used to treat actinic keratosis (AK), a dry, rough, scaley patch of skin developing from too much sun exposure. Some actinic keratoses may develop into a type of skin cancer. Picato belongs to a group of drugs called cytotoxic agents, which causes cell death in AK skin lesions.
This medication comes in topical gel form and is available in two strengths. It is applied directly to the affected area(s) once daily for 2 to 3 days.
Common side effects of Picato include mild redness, flaking or scaling of skin.
