Pradaxa
Overview
Pradaxa (dabigatran) is a prescription medicine used to reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in people who have a medical condition called atrial fibrillation.
Pradaxa is in a class of anticoagulant (''blood thinner'') medications called direct thrombin inhibitors. It works by preventing blood clots from forming in the body.
Pradaxa comes as a capsule to take by mouth. It is usually taken with or without food twice a day.
Some common side effects for Pradax include indigestion, upset stomach, or burning.
