Questran
Questran Overview

Questran (generic: cholestyramine) is a prescription medication used to treat high cholesterol and itching caused by blockage in the bile ducts of the gallbladder. This medication belongs to a group of drugs called bile acid sequestrants. It works by binding bile acids and preventing their reabsorption in the intestines.

Questran comes in powder form to be mixed with liquids or applesauce. Although it is usually taken twice daily, Questran can be taken up to 6 times daily.

Common side effects include constipation, bloating, and stomach pain. Drink plenty of fluids while taking Questran to prevent constipation.
