Ritalin LA (generic: methylphenidate) is a prescription medication used to treat Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Ritalin belongs to a group of drugs called central nervous system (CNS) stimulants. It works by changing the amount of natural substances in the brain to decrease impulsiveness and hyperactivity.

This medication comes in the form of an extended release capsule. It is usually taken once a day, in the morning, with water or other liquid. Swallow Ritalin LA capsules whole.
