Somavert (generic: pegvisomant) is a prescription medication used to treat patients who have acromegaly (a condition in which the body produces too much growth hormone and body tissues grow larger over time). Somavert works by directly blocking the effects of growth hormone.

This medication comes in an injectable form to be given just under the skin, once daily.

Common side effects of Somavert are pain, infection, and reaction at the site of injection.
