Sonata (generic: zaleplon) is a prescription medication used to treat insomnia. Sonata belongs to a group of drugs called sedatives or hypnotics. It works by slowing activity in the brain to allow sleep.

This medication comes in capsule form. It is taken immediately before bedtime with a full glass of water.
