Tafinlar (generic: dabrafenib) is a prescription medication used to treat melanoma, a dangerous type of skin cancer, that has spread to other parts of the body and cannot be removed by surgery. Specifically, Tafinlar is approved to treat people with melanoma whose tumors have a certain gene mutation known as the BRAF V600E gene mutation. 

Tafinlar comes in capsules to be swallowed whole.  Do not chew, crush, or break capsules. Tafinlar is taken twice daily, on an empty stomach.

Common side effects of Tafinlar include thickening of the skin, headache, and fever.
