Thalomid (generic: thalidomide) is a prescription medication used to treat multiple myeloma (cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow) and skin lesions from leprosy.  Thalomid belongs to a group of drugs called immunomodulatory agents, which strengthen the immune system and prevent swelling in skin lesions.

This medication comes in capsule form and is taken once a day, at bedtime.

Common side effects of Thalomid include swelling of hands and feet, constipation, and numbness. Thalomid can cause birth defects in babies. Men and women should not have unprotected sex while taking this medication.
