Uniretic (generic: moexipril/hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. It is a single tablet containing 2 medications, moexipril and hydrochlorothiazide. Moexitil belongs to a group of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by blocking the ACE enzyme, which helps blood vessels to relax and lowers blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) belongs to a group of drugs called diuretics (water pills), which cause the kidneys to get rid of extra water and salt in the urine.
Uniretic comes in tablet form. It is usually taken once or twice daily, on an empty stomach.
Common side effects include cough, fatigue, and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
