Xgeva Overview
Xgeva (generic: denosumab) is a prescription medication used to prevent serious bone problems in patients whose cancer has spread to the bone. It is also useto treat giant cell tumor of bone when surgery is not an option. Xgeva belongs to a group of drugs called RANK ligand inhibitors which work by decreasing bone breakdown and increasing bone density.
This medication comes in an injectable form to be given just under the skin in the upper arm, thigh, or stomach area. It is usually given by a healthcare provider, in a medical setting, once every 4 weeks.
Common side effects of Xgeva include nausea, tiredness, and weakness.
