Ziac Overview

Ziac (generic: bisoprolol/hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. It is a single tablet containing 2 medications, bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide. Bisoprolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers. These medications lower blood pressure by blocking beta receptors in the body which relaxes blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) belongs to a group of drugs called diuretics (water pills), which cause the kidneys to get rid of extra water and salt in the urine.

Ziac comes in tablet form. It is usually taken once daily, with or without food.

Common side effects include fatigue, diarrhea, and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
