Ziagen Overview
Ziagen (generic: abacavir) is a prescription medication used to treat human immunodefiency virus (HIV) infection. Ziagen belongs to a group of drugs called nucleoside analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). It works by preventing the virus from multiplying.
This medication comes in tablet and liquid forms and is usually taken once or twice daily.
Common side effects of Ziagen include nausea, vomiting, tiredness, and headaches.
