Zovirax (generic: acyclovir) is a prescription medication used to treat cold sores on the face or lips caused by the herpes virus. Zovirax belongs to a group of drugs called synthetic nucleoside analogues, which work by stopping the spread of herpes virus in the body.

This medication comes in a cream to be applied five times daily, for four days.
