How To Get Rid Of The Smell Of Weed

You have just smoked weed and now everything smells like weed, don’t panic! We have listed a number of ways in which you will be able to get rid of the weed smell, so you don’t give yourself away to family, friends or neighbours.

The reason cannabis has a smell is that it is a flower and one of the primary functions of a flower is to create terpenes which are odorous chemicals designed to attract pollinators and ward off any predators. This smell can either be the worst or best part of the plant depending on your preference and where you are.

Unfortunately, the weed smell can be a really obvious give away which will alert others about what you have been doing. Cannabis can be smoked for both medical and recreational purposes in a range of different countries.

If you would like to be mindful of your neighbours or simply would like your cannabis habits to stay private to you here are a few handy tips and tricks to help you mask the smell of cannabis in your home or on your person.

Incense

If you would like to mask the smell of weed before you even start smoking it is a great idea to burn incense before smoking. Burning incense before you start smoking can help mask the smell before you even start. You will be able to purchase incense from supermarkets and craft stores. You should choose a natural and mild sense and light it around 5 minutes before you start smoking. This will create a thick smell in the air and mask the smell of pot.

Open The Window

This sounds almost too obvious but it does work. Ventilation is a fantastic way to remove the smell of cannabis from your home after smoking. Open up a window and smoke nearby it. If the wind is blowing quite strong the smell will be gone in no time at all. Be careful though as blowing smoke outside can upset neighbours.

Cooking A Nice Meal

Cooking a delicious meal can actually mask the smell of marijuana if you use the right ingredients. Some ingredients give off rich aromas which smell delicious. If it’s close to a mealtime you should consider cooking with foods such as onion, garlic and other strong smelling substances as this can help to mask the smell of cannabis.

Air Fresheners

This one also sounds obvious but you could also invest in some air fresheners. Air fresheners can be used to combat obours. You can use an aerosol and spray around your entire home or use a plug in air freshener so you don’t have to worry about it.

Scented Candles

If you do not have any air fresheners scented candles are also a fantastic choice. There are a huge variety which you can buy in any store or online too. Try a few to figure out which smells you love and which ones you would rather avoid. We would recommend choosing a natural scent as strong scented candles can sometimes seem suspicious.

Perfume

Scented body spray or perfume is really easy to come by and can also mask your any smells which may be lingering on your clothes. After smoking, spray a little amount of perfume or body spray over your outfit to try and cover the smell very easily.

Make sure you like the spray first before spraying it all over your body as it’s better to find out before you spray, after. It is also important to only spray a little bit as usually a little bit will go a long way. If you smell strong, this could irritate others and also make you look suspicious.

Use A Vaporizer

Another alternative to smoking is using a vape. They include all of the active ingredients of cannabis and allows you to inhale the plant without having to light anything. This reduced the smell that would normally be caused by smoking. You can actually purchase vapes online and get it delivered straight to your door.

Smoke Outdoors if Legal

If it is legal smoking outside will create less of a scent because odours disperse in the air. We would suggest smoking outside if it is legal to do so when possible. This will result in less of the smell being trapped in your home.

Consider Edibles

You can consume cannabis in a range of different ways. Consuming them as edibles is one of these ways of doing it without a smell. You can buy a huge variety of edibles at dispensaries or buy some autoflowering cannabis seeds, grow them yourself and then put it into any food you wish.  If you would like to eliminate odors, you should certainly consider purchasing edibles over smoking.

Use A Sploof

A sploof is a homemade device which is designed to mask the smell caused by cannabis. When you take a hit all you have to do is exhale the smoke into a sloof to help prevent a smell from ever developing. These can be made with items you have around your home. Here are two ways of creating a sloof.

  • To make a sploof, wrap a dryer over the end of a toilet paper roll, securing it with a rubber band. Stuff the tube halfway with toilet paper. With repeated use, the dryer sheet will turn brown with residue so it is important to keep a few dryer sheets spare.
  • You can sploof it to 10 to 15 dryer sheets inside your paper towel roll then place the cannabis in the sock and stuff this inside the roll. Then all you have to do is use the tube as the pipe to smoke. The dryer sheets will help to mask the smell of cannabis.

Don’t Forget About Your Breath

Don’t forget about yourself! After smoking, you may have a faint scent of cannabis on your breath. You will be able to get rid of this smell using some chewing gum or you could try brushing your teeth and then rinsing your mouth with mouthwash. If you have breath strips these can also cover the smell too.
