Uses of Adcetris

Adcetris is a prescription medication used to treat:

  • Hodgkin’s lymphoma 
  • systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (sALCL; a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma) 

This medication is used after other treatments have been unsuccessful.

Side Effects of Adcetris

Common side effects include:

  • tiredness
  • nausea
  • diarrhea
  • low white blood cell counts
  • anemia
  • tingling sensation

Adcetris Overview

Adcetris (generic: brentuximab vedotin) is a prescription medication used to treat Hodgkin’s lymphoma and systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (sALCL; a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma) when other treatments have not been successful. This medication belongs to a group of drugs called antibody-drug conjugates. It attaches to and enters cancer cells and kills them.

Adcetris comes in an injectable form to be given directly into a vein and infused over 30 minutes by a healthcare provider. It is usually injected once every 3 weeks.

Common side effects include tiredness, nausea, and diarrhea.

Adcetris FDA Warning

WARNING: PROGRESSIVE MULTIFOCAL LEUKOENCEPHALOPATHY (PML)

JC virus infection resulting in PML and death can occur in patients receiving Adcetris.
